Our Mission

To train the next generation of Family Medicine Residents to provide quality, compassionate care while being prudent in the use of resources. To ensure access to health care of underserved communities within the rural setting while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion among the administration and residents.

Curriculum

The Boa Vida Family Medicine Program is a unique program focused on developing Family Medicine physicians trained to serve a rural population with compassion, quality, and inclusiveness that have fiscal responsibility. The curriculum is focused heavily on continuity of care and population health. Partnering with Qualexa Healthcare, BVFMR Residents are given a panel of patients to follow through their three years of learning to optimize health outcomes using HEDIS measures while managing medical loss. The BVFMR curriculum has two rotations in Practice Management and Population Health. The goal of the program is to develop physician leaders of the future who are well-prepared to manage risk and health outcomes.

The Boa Vida Family Medicine Residency Program provides Residents with outstanding training and skill development in a rural setting. We pride ourselves in delivering evidence-based, culturally aware, and patient-centered care. Residents can expect to build community, develop autonomy, and grow as leaders.

Boa Vida Family Medicine Residency’s unique program curriculum trains Residents in value-based care and population health management, focusing on controlling medical loss while maintaining quality measures.

Boa Vida Family Medicine Residency strengthens and improves access to primary care throughout the Golden Triangle Region of Mississippi. In addition, Residents will work with skilled physicians in the specialties of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatrics at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven, MS. This broad experience exposes Residents to the wide-ranging scope of primary care and health systems while still meeting the diverse needs of the local community.

We seek the most qualified applicants who can mirror our guiding principles. If you want to be prepared for a future of managing quality care and managing the cost of care delivery, please consider Boa Vida Family Medicine Residency Program.

Boa Vida Family Medicine Residency provides the Residents with a comprehensive and well-structured clinical education that will enable them to become competent board-certified Family Medicine Physicians. Population Health Fellowship

In recognition of the evolving landscape of healthcare and the need for primary care physicians equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate it effectively, we introduce the Population Health Fellowship program at Boa Vida Family Medicine Residency, Aberdeen, MS.

We believe that rather than waiting until later in their careers when burnout may impede progress, it is vital to imbue primary care residents with a transformative interdisciplinary culture from the outset. Our program aims to achieve this by instilling early on the insights and skills essential for modern healthcare objectives.

This fellowship program is foundational to our commitment to advancing population health. Boa Vida Family Medicine Residency partners with local healthcare organizations to spearhead the transformation of healthcare delivery in Aberdeen and its surrounding communities.

The program offers a comprehensive 12-month period designed to equip physicians with the tools to lead interdisciplinary teams effectively. Fellows will engage in structured assignments aimed at improving provider and practice performance throughout the fellowship year.

The success of healthcare delivery hinges on the availability of quality primary care physicians. While efforts to increase the number of medical students and residents are underway, the true challenge lies in cultivating a workforce equipped to drive positive change in Mississippi’s healthcare system.

The Population Health Fellowship program at Boa Vida Family Medicine Residency addresses this challenge by supporting two Fellows annually. Our objectives include:

  • Attracting and retaining high-quality primary care physicians or medical students desiring a career in primary care
  • Improving health outcomes and patient experiences
  • Managing healthcare costs effectively
  • Promoting seamless integration across the healthcare delivery continuum
  • Mitigating physician burnout

We recognize the gap between primary care practice behaviors and healthcare outcomes. Our program aims to bridge this gap by providing Fellows with the foundational knowledge and skillset necessary for success in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

The selection of host practices is crucial to the success of the fellowship program. We evaluate practices based on various criteria, including organizational structure, leadership, readiness for transformation, and population health focus.

Our comprehensive program covers key population health topics and includes structured assignments with measurable outcomes. Fellows will engage in monthly modules focusing on:

  • Population health strategies
  • Healthcare spending management
